Devotion

“If God has blessed you with a desire for conscious living, and He has given you a spiritual path, then take that path! Walk on it! Excel in it! Grow with it!”
- Yogi Bhajan

Dear Awareness Center Family,

Happy New Year. There is nothing like the beginning of January...it's a time to wipe the slate clean and renew our commitments to ourselves and our lives. It's also a time when fear and insecurity can arise and our minds bring up questions like "New Year's resolutions? Who am I kidding? If I haven't lost that 15 lbs. in the past 10 years, why would it happen this year?"

Your thoughts create your reality. Don't keep repeating the same mistakes. It's time to circumvent those old negative thoughts and patterns. Are you ready to do the work that it takes to change? The ironic thing is that it's actually harder to stay stuck and unhappy than it is to have a personal practice and free your mind. Wake yourself up this year by becoming devoted to your own well-being and peace. Change your emotion and commotion to devotion to your practice and watch your life transform.

Sat Nam,
Wahe Guru Kaur, Guru Darshan Singh
and "Team Awareness"

Featured AC Teacher:
Gillian/Atma Kaur

It gives Gillian great joy to share the technology that Yogi Bhajan has given us all to integrate body, mind and spirit. Gillian started teaching soon after taking Dr. Khalsa's beginner's series in 1995, then became IKYTA-certified in 1998. The major components of Kundalini Yoga- posture, pranayam, meditation, sound current and deep relaxation- form the structure for her intuitive classes. Inspirational texts from multiple sources may be shared, or current life experiences and how yoga or meditation has helped bring insight or maintain balance. Beginners are always welcome.

Atma Kaur is full of gratitude to be able to return to the Awareness Center after an extended leave of absence. She continues to be the primary care giver for her son who suffered a severe spinal cord injury Memorial Day, 2005. During her leave, she taught for the Girl Scouts, where Kundalini Yoga is incorporated into the Stress Reduction Badge. Additionally, she led an 8-session Kundalini Yoga series for women at Options for Recovery at UCLA Medical Center.

"The time has come not to search for God, but to be God. The time is not to worship God, but to trust and dwell in the working of God.

– Yogi Bhajan
